Living in an apartment is a simple, affordable and much easier to manage especially if you are living in a big city. - Do take NOC from the housing society – Before commencing apartment renovation make sure to obtain an NOC from the housing society and concerned authorities to avoid any legal compliance.
- Don’t make structural changes unless critically important – It’s an important point to consider as it involves the overall safety of the premises. The structure of the building is made after too much research and tempering with any crucial structural part may risk the entire building so, its not advisable to change the structure.
- Don’t remove any beam, columns or load bearing walls – Apartment renovation sometimes require alteration of ceiling or walls to optimize space or to increase the height etc. however, removing walls which bear load of the walls of floors above it may critically damage the load bearing capacity of the structure. Therefore, you must not remove any beams of load bearing parapet.
- Dispose debris at allocated space only – When you start apartment renovation do adhere to laws of the premises and do not forget to dispose debris / waste at the allocated space only. Dumping waste at public places can create interruption for the residents. Always make sure to dump waste at designated space only.
- Don’t change the position of the bathroom – While renovating the apartment never ever change the position of the bathroom as the pipes and hoses of entire building run in a set fashion hence changing the direction of bathroom can increase moisture and water seepage in the entire building and guess what, The repairing will be on you? So, avoid playing around with bathroom location.
